The Ealing Club @ The Eel Pie Club

Thursday 4th May @ 8:00 PM

The Eel Pie Club will be hosting the Ealing Club on 4 May

As the UK’s first dedicated electric blues club the Ealing Club is the spark that ignited British rock music in 1962. The west London cellar venue marked a key moment in British Rock & pop. The popularity of so-called R & B as it became known in London spread to other local venues including the formerly trad jazz haunt of the Eel Pie Island Hotel. Since 2000 the Eel Pie Club has been based at The Cabbage Patch, London Road, Twickenham.

The special Ealing @ Eel Pie Club gig on Thursday 4 May will be inspired by the most influential musicians of the pioneering Ealing music scene of the 60s, including the Rolling Stones, The Who, Manfred Mann, Alexis Korner, Cyril Davies, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell and more.

The gig will feature some of the UK’s top blues musicians – Robert Hokum (guitar/vocals), Terry Marshall (sax), Steve King (bass), Paul White (drums), Ross Gordon (drums), Hugh Budden (harmonica), Karena K (vocals and sax), Chris Burgham (keys).

* In the first set, The Ealing Club House Band will play the songs that inspired a generation.
* In the second set, T J Johnson plays Jimi Hendrix.
* In the third set, The Great West Groove Band (with two drummers, guitar/vocals, bass, sax) honours the Ealing Club drummers who re-defined rock: Charlie Watts, Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker and Keith Moon.

Tickets are available here.
