The Ealing Club CIC Xmas party will inevitably end up with a Blues Jam provided by some of the finest musicians that Ealing, London and the UK can offer. There will be other performances with a tinge of Jazz and some even rooted in post-punk and power pop. Here are the highlights:
POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES: Onstage 8.00 to 8.30pm: PCL bring a performance that owes much to a generation of bands, most of whom passed by Ealing completely…(as did their commentators but some get it)
However, the likes of New Order transformed and added a longevity to the British Music scene that remains with us to this day. PCL will bring some of those influences along with a host of highly original loops, electronic drums and the odd bass line penned in Ealing
CHASING DEER: Onstage 8.45 to 9.15: Chasing Deer are an up and coming rock band originally from the Midlands and now based in Ealing… London. Their original music features regularly on BBC Radio in the UK as well as a number of commercial stations and promo has included numerous gigs in the Ealing area.
The band continue to build on their success, with appearances on festival main stages to large crowds and a busy diary of both corporate and private bookings. Expect some power pop influences that could no doubt prove popular on many stages in Ealing and well beyond.
THE BLUE AMEN: Onstage 9.30 to 10.00: THE BLUE AMEN kicked off The Ealing Eclectic project back in Sept 2016 striding the fine line between the Jazz and The Blues. In July 2016 they represented the Ealing Club CIC on the bar stage at the Ealing Jazz Festival. Their live performance concert recorded at the Red Room earlier this year is now available on Spotify and clearly demonstrates why it is worth paying a small fee to see this band live.
THE EALING CLUB BLUES ALL STARS featuring: TERRY MARSHALL, ROBERT HOKUM, BOB KNIGHT, DAVID STONE, STEVE KING: plus guests t.b.a: Onstage 10.15 to 11.15: In 2016, the core of this band has been gracing the stage at events such as The West Ealing SoundBite Festival as well as other special gigs at the Hanwell Hootie and The Ealing Music and Film Festival appearance featuring Ben Waters. Of course, many of them will be found at the annual Ealing Blues Festival held in Walpole Park as part of the Ealing Summer Festivals while they are not being recruited by Bill Wyman and Ray Davies for duties elsewhere.
Drumming duties fall to Bob Knight whose recent CV includes Sting amongst just about every other name in music. Incidentally, the first gig that Sting attended in a ‘Grassroots Venue’ was the Graham Bond Organisation … featuring band members who had all worked with Blues Incorporated……and the story goes on!
The Ealing Club C.I.C. is a non-for-profit organisation that in 2016 has provided acts (+ more) for The Ealing Eclectic Project, Ealing Blues Festival, Ealing Jazz Festival, Eat & Drink Ealing, West Ealing Soundbite, The Ealing Music & Film Festival and The Hanwell Hootie.
Our mission is to highlight Ealing’s iconic music heritage at a local & national level and in turn inspire new opportunities for LIVE MUSIC. In 2017, we hope a feature film documentary Suburban Steps To Rockland – The Story of The Ealing Club will reclaim more of the forgotten narrative of West London’s contribution to music.
